Move around in Brussels

How to move around in Brussel

All the main tourist attractions in Brussels concentrate around the Grand Place, therefore we suggest to visit the city on foot, to better admire the beauty of its palaces and buildings.

Avoid using a private car: the city is provided with an excellent, modern and efficient public transport system, including bus, tram and metro. The network is managed by the company STIB/MIVB, and each ticket is valid on all transports between 5.30 am and 0.30 am on working days, while the service is reduced on holidays and Sundays. There are several options of ticket: daily, hourly or simple ride. All tickets can be purchased at newsagents and ticket offices.

As for taxi, it is useful to know that they are considered as the most expensive in Europe, however, they are the only mean of transport circulating 24 h a day, so they can be useful during night hours.

A good alternative and cheaper way to move around is by bicycle, which can be rented at the appropriate stations. However, the cycle paths are not yet widespread.
