How to get to Brussels
Over the last years Brussels gained more and more importance thanks to the presence of the European Union headquarters, with a positive consequence also on the air traffic and the prolipheration of cheaper transport solutions to reach the city.
The city is served by two airports, the main one lies 14 km north-east of the city centre, in the municipality of Zaventem. The airport is served either by the national air company, Brussels Airlines, and some European companies like Air France, British Airways, Delta Airlines, Alitalia and Lufthansa. The second airport is Brussels-Charleroi, located 55 km south of the city, which has become more and more popular thanks to a handful of low cost companies like Ryan Air that established here.
Brussels railway station Gare Midi offers direct high speed train connections with the main European cities: Paris, Amsterdam and London. Da qui è possibile poi raggiungere in poco tempo grazie ai treni ad Alta Velocità le principali capitali europee come Parigi, Amsterdam e Londra.
The Belgian capital can be reached by coach from the main European cities through the coach company Eurolines.
The main highway connection to Brussels is the E25 passing by Strasbourg and Luxembourg. The majority of roads in Belgium are free. Speed limits are 90 km/h and 120 km/h.
